#globalsatsang #enlightenedliving #bhoomananda #bhagavadgita Discussing the sixth chapter of Bhagavad Gita, Swamiji explains the practice of meditation and its fruition. Meditation is a practice where the mind and intelligence alone are the focus. To aid in the actual process of meditation, the practitioner must live a disciplined and well-integrated life. He must practice moderation in food, sleep, activities, and interactions. When one is given to moderation, Yoga is fruitful. When the restrained mind remains seated in the Self, and the mind becomes free of all desires, one is Yuktah (integrated in Yoga). What is the state of the Yogi in this integrated state? Just as the flame of a lamp, placed in a windless place, does not flicker at all, the Yogi remains still, stable, and poised. All his mind and intelligence processes get dissolved and the Self becomes revealed. This is Yoga, where the seeker sits closing his eyes and deals with the inner constituents—mind, intelligence, and the ego. When the mental processes become slower and slower and finally subside, the active mind becomes still and becomes established in its own source. The Yogi is then able to experience the inner presence, the sentience. When the Yogi is established in the Self, by dint of the practice of Yoga, he experiences Supreme contentment and endless delight. The Consciousness is beyond the senses; It can be grasped only by the intelligence. When the practitioner experiences the consciousness within, and comprehends it, he never slips from the Truth. The knowledge ‘I am the Consciousness’ become firm in him. After attaining this state, he will not feel that there is anything else superior to it. Remaining in this state, the greatest of calamities will not dislodge him.
