One of my favourite documentaries, any time 'Facing Ali' was playing on a channel, I'd watch it again. The film not only focuses on Muhammad Ali's life and career, but also highlights the before-and-after stories of a few select men who fought Ali -- luminaries of the sport such as Smokin' Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Leon Spinks, Ken Norton, Larry Holmes, Ernie Terrell, George Chuvalo, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle, Sir Henry Cooper and also Sonny Liston (through archival footage). As a boxing fan, it takes you on an exciting trip down memory lane, revisiting some of the greatest fights of ever in the history of the sweet science and reseeing these legends in their awe-inspiring prime. As a fellow human being, you can't help but feel and root for these men, so driven by circumstance to devote their blood, sweat and tears towards their unique career in the hope of a better life. For me, it has never failed to be a really moving watch, to see their emotions, to hear their stories in their own voices (all the more so now in the years since the film's release with each one's passing). My favourites were Norton (the 'Black Hercules' - what a specimen & puncher!), Spinks (such heart & character), Frazier (incredibly tough & great champ), Ron Lyle (inspirational journey), and Foreman's retelling of the 'Rumble in the Jungle' and his own testimony were riveting and relatable to anyone who's ever tasted the bitterness of failure. The original soundtrack to the film is also brilliant & funky, which I suppose had some subconscious influence on track & visuals for this music video edit. A cover of an Ernie Hines anthem from a period not far removed, the anti-hate message of 'Our Generation' gives a nod to the spirit of Ali's other monumental fights outside of the ring.
