Transcript(due to some changes not everything on the transcript will be on the video): How to prepare for your first Preplylesson. Welcome to my channel. Today I will discuss how to prepare for your first Preply lesson. First of all, congrats on getting your first lesson! I know firsthand how hard it is to teach let alone teach online. Public speaking is hard, for most of us. That is why I am going to share tips and tricks that will help you with your first trial class. First things first, your student is likely as nervous as you are. So make sure to practice a warm welcome and make sure to exude confidence. it's important to remember: confidence is key. Remember that it helps to show that you want to be there and that you are excited. This will help the class go by more smoothly. Technical: tip number two always make sure to get to know the technical stuff. For instance, How to log in to Preply and use all the features you will be using for class. Whether you choose to use their learning material or upload your own make sure to have that ready to go. Lastly, Check your webcam, mic, wifi, and other technical stuff. Okay so now that we got the basics down let's get started with the actual class. So for Preply, it is important that you have a basic lesson plan. This is because Since you will not get paid for the trial you have to make sure that you make a great first impression. I will do a more in-depth video on how to create a good lesson plan. But for now, just know that you can find outlines online. Just make sure to keep it simple and make sure it applies to all levels. Review their placement test and take notes. This will help you if you choose to review it for class or if they bring it up during their trial. If you are tutoring something that does not have a placement test, make your own assessment that correlates to what you are tutoring. Review, read, or buy materials relating to what you are teaching or tutoring. If you are doing more physical skills like teaching an instrument remember the first things you learned and how this helped you be a better musician. Always remember that students look up to you for guidance. Watch the videos available on Preply academy. These videos are free for tutors and they help with almost anything relating to teaching on the platform. Pick an attire. Something that you feel comfortable in and that you feel is appropriate for teaching. Use a normal and neutral background. If possible try to have a noise-free environment. practice your public speaking skills. Sometimes we forget how much practicing actually helps. Finally, keep calm and be patient. As you are getting ready to start the lesson take a big breath and relax. Start with a warm smile and be patient. Some students will struggle to speak even if they are speaking their language.
