Let's Build a New Van Floor | Arctic Camper #9

The metal floor won't be bare for much longer, as it's finally time to get going on the huge piece of plywood! How awesome to have a couple more beautiful fall days at the van build! This thing is heavy!! My van has lots of bumps and grooves so I really wasn’t looking forward to building the floor… I managed to make a template out of superglued cardboard which I could transfer to the coated plywood using a spray can. First job for my new jig saw was cutting out the big opening for the hidden locker🪚 After dry fitting the floor it was time to pre drill dozens of holes and paint all the exposed edges before cutting the airline tie down tracks to size. Using my handheld router I cut out some pockets so they sit perfectly flush! This will make the van so much more versatile, being able to tie down the furniture in “camping mode” whilst providing a completely flat cargo bay and load securing spots in the “workshop/cargo mode”📦 Only thing left was to paint & waterproof those pockets and we’re ready for insulating & installing the floor!
