(10m) of 3/16" (5mm) galvanised steel wire rope with swivelling snap hook, thermoplastic housing and anchorage carabiner. The Rebel™ self retracting lifeline (SRL) line is built to last providing an economical fall protection solution without compromising performance or safety. Rebel™ SRL’s feature a 190 kg user capacity, a robust design to ensure longevity and are available in lengths from 6m to 30m. Available in either aluminium or composite housing models, these SRL’s are also equipped with an ergonomic carrying handle that makes transportation to and from the job site easy. Rebel™ is designed with the worker in mind, featuring a stackable space maximising design and an impact indicator to provide easy verification of whether the equipment has been involved in a fall. An SRL’s lifeline will extend as the user moves away, and retract automatically enabling the user to move about within a recommended working area at normal speeds. Should a fall occur, a speed sensing brake system will activate stopping the fall and reducing the forces imposed on the user to safe levels. For people working at height, we're often asked to provide a self-retracting lifeline. This product here is a self-retracting lifeline. This one is made 3M™. It's part of the Protecta® range. Now, you'll see that the product is connected to an anchor point at the top. The red section there houses the cable when it's not in use, and the cable can be drawn down and if it's not under tension, it will just retract back up into the housing. That's good because you haven't got masses of cable that you're tripping over and potentially have to unravel before a fall is arrested in the event of a fall. So if a fall happens, the cable locks on straight away and arrests that fall. This one is great for hot work. If somebody is welding or grinding and there's hot sparks, they're less likely to damage that cable than potentially a webbing version of a self-retracting lifeline. There are products like this that are made with webbing, much like a seatbelt in a motor vehicle that retracts, and they can be very light, but not so good with hot sparks for hot work.
