The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) Market Complex located at Fatorda, behind the Kadamba Bus Stand/ Stop also known as KTC, accommodates all sorts of shops such as general stores that supplies commodities like rice, vegetables, fruits, flowers, cold storage items and other household items. The complex also has live meat stalls that sell chicken, mutton, pork and beef. In the vicinity of the market complex there is a INOX multiplex (cinema), eateries of MNC companies such as Dominos and Pizza Hut, there is also an OSIA shopping center which has boutiques of Mustafa’s and Eagle Warehouse. I along with my mother visited the complex on 06th January 2023 to have a look at the variety of fresh produce that was on offer. As always, we were surprised with the quality as well as prices (high prices and expensive compared to other places like Mumbai or anywhere else in India). The quality of some fruits and vegetables seemed fine but for the price, it definitely was not worth it, but having said that, locals would have no other choice rather than go ahead with their purchases over here. There's ample amount of parking for cars and bikes, however it could get a bit crowded and busy on the weekends as usual. The variety of fish that's available in the fish market is very good which includes bombay duck (bombil), salmon, mackrel, pomfrets, surmai, king fish, snappers, red snappers, squids, octopus, and some other local and exotic fish that people love eating. Early morning is when the fiush market can get real crowded due to many people as well as resturants buying as per their requirements to stock up. One of the main advantages of this market is its central location which as I mentioned earlier is just behind the bus stop from where otustation buses to Mumbai, Pune, Belagavi (Belgaum), Bangalore (Bengaluru), Karwar, Mangalore (Mangaluru) are available in plenty. Even local buses plying to Ponda, Panjim, Vasco, Bambolim, Mapusa, Cuncolim, Balli, Cancona, Betul, Colva, Mobor, Agassaim, Titan amongst others also ply from here. The OSIA shopping centre offers a variety of branded clothing shops, shoes, mobile phone shops, etc. The 'Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium' also known as Fatorda Stadium is also very close to the market complex which can be seen from some parts of the market complex itself. Due to the location, many people don't need to travel to Margao's New Market (M.M.C. Market) or Gandhi Market (Old Market) as almost all things that are available in these two markets are also available in the SGPDA Market Complex including the iconic goan pork sausages. The prices however compared to Margao's market for most things may be a slightly bit more expensive but this is something expected if we take into account travelling costs, etc of the vendors.
