Can mechanically breaking down fat increase stem cell yield? In this video, Dr. Centeno speaks with Regenexx research scientist Dustin about his experiment using a commercial emulsification system on fat tissue to evaluate mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) yield. Dustin compares pre- and post-emulsification results, revealing that although the initial fat sample produced a small MSC-containing pellet, emulsifying the fat actually reduced the number of cultureable stem cells. This surprising result challenges assumptions about emulsification’s effectiveness and highlights how fat compares to bone marrow as a source of stem cells. Dr. Centeno practices at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic and is a pioneer in interventional orthobiologics with deep clinical and laboratory research experience. 🔔 If you find this content helpful, please like, comment, and subscribe to stay informed. / @centenohome To schedule a telemedicine or in-person visit, call +1-303-429-6448 or email us at [email protected].
