First, I want to thank you for your prayers these past several weeks as we've been dealing with sciatica nerve pain that has kept us from being as active as we'd like to be.. Matter of fact, today we are supposed to be catching our plane to India with the team from Global Partners in Peace and Development. I'm not able to even hardly walk around the house much less walk to an airport through the airport and do the trip. We would also appreciate your prayers for the team. There's four on this team that are on their way over there to dedicate wells, to meet with pastors, to encourage the saints there, and to do humanitarian work with many of the unreached people groups that we pray and work with. We also ask you to continue to pray for us. Just to give a real brief update. Because of the nature of the pain, I’ve not been able to sleep in a bed for the past three weeks and been attempting to sleep in a recliner. This is why the Pastor Chats have been posted a little later each day. I've been seeing a physical therapist who's been trying to help me, but at this point yesterday, he informed me that because of the nature of whatever's going on in my lower back, he can't help me any longer with the exercises that would maybe relieve the pain. I do have an appointment set up with an orthopedic surgeon on the 29th of this month. I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully they can find the root of the problem and start dealing with this pain. Giving this brief update hopefully will answer most the request that I’m receiving every day for how things are going. Please don't feel sorry for me. God has a purpose in it. Just pray for us. I cannot do without your prayers. That's the main thing. I’m thankful for the therapist, the medical help and all that, but main thing is your prayers. Again, I can’t thank you enough for your prayers. Today, we're starting a new chapter in Ephesians 5 which is about Walking Jesus! Remember, when I started this series in Ephesians, I mentioned that years ago I gave each of the chapters a subject headline. Ephesians 1 was Knowing Christ. If we're going to live for Christ we must know Christ. We must know Him as our personal Savior. We must know Him also as our Lord and the one who fills us with His Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2 was Living Christ. If we know Christ, then we should live Christ. Ephesians 3 was Loving Christ. What He wants more than anything else is that our sacrifice and service for Him is out of love. Ephesians 4 that we've been looking at was Talking Christ. We are not to talk and walk and live as the Gentiles live, but we walk in purity. And that means that we talk Christ. Our speech should always be seasoned with grace and seasoned with salt. We are not to speak and let corrupt words come out of our mouths, but we're to speak that which is good and edifying and building up. Now, Ephesians 5 is Walking Christ. In this chapter, it is interesting to note that we see at least three walks we are suppose have. In verses 1-2, we read, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” We walk in love. In verse 8, we read, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” We are to walk in the light. It speaks of this also because as we noticed in verse 1, we are dear children of the Lord, we should walk in light. Then in verses 15-16, we read, “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” We are also to walk “circumspectly. Which means that we walk carefully. In other words, we are walk with wisdom. These are three walks we see in the first part of this chapter. We'll be talking about them the next several days. It's so important that we do have a walk that matches our talk. If our talk is such that we are saying we're Christians, and telling others that we're followers of Jesus Christ, then our daily walk, our practical walk ought to be there. The first aspect of that walk that Paul mentions is that we walk in love because we're imitators of God as His dear children. In these first two verses, Paul then gives us several reasons why we should walk in this love. This is a walk because Christ loved us and gave Himself for us. 1 John 4:8 tells us that “God is love”. Since He is love, and we are His children, we're to walk in that love. Therefore, as we've already read in the previous chapters, because we're in Christ, we are not to be as the Gentiles, living lewd and wicked and evil lives. We're to be different in our daily walk and life. We also now should walk in love as Christ loved us. This is Walking Jesus! We'll get into more detail about that in the next couple days.
