Mark Taylor and Michael Slater opened the innings for the Kangaroos. They didn't get the start they wanted. Both the openers went to the dugout early. Boon gave Waqar Younis a tough competition before he was dismissed by Akram Raza. Michael Bevan, Ian Healy and Shane Warne contributed to the total helping their team reach 179/7 in their fifty overs. Pakistan didn't get a start they would have wished to lose Aamir Sohail early. Saeed Anwar and Inzamam made the chase look easy before they were dismissed.
