En este recorrido iniciamos frente al majestuoso Templo de San José Obrero, una joya del estilo neogótico que domina el paisaje con sus dos torres gemelas y su imponente fachada de cantera rosa. A un costado del templo se encuentra una de las piezas más emblemáticas del pueblo: la campana “La Reina del Silencio” 🔔. Fue fundida en 1969 por el maestro Carlos Arteaga Jiménez, originario de Guadalajara, a solicitud del sacerdote Juan Pérez Gallegos, quien reunió donaciones de los habitantes —incluso en oro y plata— para su creación. Con más de 15 toneladas de peso y tres metros de diámetro, es una de las campanas más grandes de México. Debido a su tamaño, tuvo que bajarse de la torre principal y hoy puede admirarse junto al templo como símbolo del orgullo arandense. Desde ahí continuamos hacia la Plaza Principal, centro de la vida social del municipio. Entre jardines, bancas y el elegante kiosco, los habitantes disfrutan de paseos familiares, música en vivo y la calidez del ambiente típico de Los Altos . Después visitamos el Templo de la Virgen de Guadalupe, otro de los lugares más queridos por los locales, lleno de devoción y color, donde se respira una atmósfera tranquila y espiritual. El recorrido sigue hacia el tianguis tradicional, un espacio vibrante donde los colores, aromas y sonidos reflejan la esencia de Jalisco: desde antojitos y dulces típicos hasta ropa, flores y artesanías. In this walking tour, we begin at the magnificent Temple of San José Obrero, a stunning neo-Gothic church that dominates the skyline with its twin towers and pink-stone façade. Right beside the temple stands one of the town’s most fascinating landmarks — the giant bell known as “La Reina del Silencio” (The Queen of Silence) 🔔. It was cast in 1969 by the master bell-maker Carlos Arteaga Jiménez from Guadalajara, under the initiative of local priest Juan Pérez Gallegos, who gathered community donations — even in gold and silver — to bring it to life. Weighing over 15 tons and measuring three meters in diameter, it’s one of the largest bells in Mexico. Because of its massive weight, it was later removed from the tower and placed beside the temple, where visitors can now admire it up close — a true symbol of Arandas’ pride and unity. From there, we continue to the Main Plaza, the social heart of the city. Surrounded by trees, benches, and its elegant central gazebo, the plaza is where families stroll, musicians play, and the warm atmosphere of Los Altos comes alive . Next, we visit the Temple of the Virgin of Guadalupe, one of the most beloved sanctuaries in town, filled with devotion, color, and peaceful charm.
