Discovering Aras's art cafe in Toraja, Sulawesi was a real treat! We only met very briefly but I was glad that Aras had agreed to share his wisdom about Torajan culture. His cafe was not only tastefully decorated with Torajan artwork but the local food was outstanding and there was an internet! The Toraja are an ethnic group indigenous to a mountainous region of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. They are renowned for their elaborate funeral rites, burial sites carved into rocky cliffs, massive peaked-roof traditional houses known as tongkonan, and colourful wood carvings. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaur...
