Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi Rajasthan Trip: Ajmer Shatabdi and Garib Nawaz Express

Some highlights from a day trip to Rajasthan. The Delhi-Ahmedabad route via Rewari and Ajmer remains one of the few unadulterated high speed diesel routes in the country. Henceforth, I decided to go Alco hunting along this route earlier in the year. Due to time constraints, I could go only as far as Jaipur and hence took the Ajmer Shatabdi to Jaipur and returned by the Garib Nawaz Express. The key highlights from the trip are the rapid runs by both the Ajmer Shatabdi, led by a Tughlakabad WDM3A, and the Garib Nawaz Express, powered by a splendid looking Malda Town WDM3A. Notable crossings include those with the Ahmedabad Rajdhani (Vatva WDM3D), the Ajmer-Delhi LHB Special (Ratlam WDM3A), the Jaipur Delhi Double Decker (Tughlakabad WDM3A), and the Delhi Mumbai Garib Rath Express (Ludhiana WDM3A). Courtesy being August, the outcrop of the Aravalli hills and those bounding the Sariska National Park near Alwar were abundant with vegetation, making a lovely sight as the train sped past the hills.
