On the project, she wanted to return more to her hiphop roots. Song on her previous albums like Super Bass, Pound the Alarm, Starships, and Va Va Voom helped Nicki appeal to pop fans, and have access to the same fans as Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and other pop stars. But, some critics thought her work on Pink Friday and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded made her more of a pop star, and not an actual rapper. Inspired by Jay-Z, Nicki wanted The PinkPrint to be a classic female hiphop record. She released her first single, Pills N Potions, was a bittersweet song about a past relationship. Several songs on the album talk about heartbreak and loss, like All Things Go, the Crying Game, and Grand Piano. Nick also has more upbeat and fun songs like Trini Dem Girls, The Night is Still Young, and 4 Door Aventador. On the songs Only and Truffle Butter, Nicki collaborated with Young Money artists Lil Wayne and Dreak. On Get On Your Knees, she collabed with Ariana Grande and in Bed of Lies, she collaborated with Skyler Gray. On Feeling Myself, she cllaborated with Beyonce. Nicki got into a slight feud with Taylor Swift after Anaconda wasn't nominated for video of the year, though Bad Blood was. They eventually resolved their conflict, though Miley inserted herself and Nicki called her out. The PinkPrint era was about Nicki getting vulnerable, and showing the world the woman behind the Barbie wigs and makeup.
