Stone walls shine with borrowed light, A throne carved out of victories, Gold mirrors the sky at noon, I name myself what only stars should be. Every road bends toward my feet, Every word obeys my breath, I drink the sound of marching drums And call it proof that I exist. From balconies of endless view I measure heaven by my hand, Say, Look what I have built alone, A kingdom taller than command. The wind brings whispers I ignore, A crack beneath the crown, But I am louder than the warning And I seal the thunder down. There’s a voice above the marble That I pretend I cannot hear, It says, You borrowed every heartbeat, But I call the echo fear. I wore a crown of dust and called it flame, I carved my name into the sky, But the sky remembered mine. When I rose above the Most High Name, My mind became a wilderness, And power forgot my face. Clocks unravel in the fields, My language breaks into the ground, Thought becomes a scattered bird With no remembered sound. I eat the silence of the earth, I sleep beneath the rain, A king with grass between his teeth Learning how to say his name. I wore a crown of dust and called it light, I crowned myself with borrowed breath, But heaven wrote me small. When I rose above the Living Throne, My throne became a pastureland, And I became the fall. Not by strength… Not by walls… Not by gold that learns to rust… The mind returns when knees remember Who it was that made the dust. And the sky bends low again, Not to crush but to restore, When a man unnames himself And gives the kingdom back to God. I laid my crown into the fire, I named the Name above my name, The fields turned back to cities, And the dark remembered flame. Now every breath is borrowed light, Every throne is temporary, Only Heaven never shakes, Only Heaven carries glory. So let the towers learn to kneel, Let the proud become aware: The mind that crowns itself as god Will wander until God is there.
