Toyota Tacoma Fan Blower Motor - Suspect Welcome to The Next Project! In this video, I take a look at a common issue with many Toyota cabin fans… They suddenly only work on the HI speed setting. This is an issue not only with the Tacoma truck, but it appears to happen to some of the sedans as well. Many Tacoma owners have stated that the Blower Motor Resistor is the cause of the speed control issue, others state it is the wiring connector at the Blower Motor Resistor. I question if it is actually the Blower Motor that is the issue, and may be the cause of the Resistor or Connector to fail - if they have in fact failed. With the Tacoma in this video, the fan motor was removed from the vehicle, the back cover removed from the motor assembly and a general cleaning “refresh” done. The fan motor reinstalled and it works on all speeds, without changing the resistor or connector. So, I question if the fan is shorting to some degree, possibly causing an increased load across the resistor and connector. The option offered here is a temporary “fix”, and is presented as part of a head-scratching diagnostic process. I’ve done this “fix” on two different Tacomas now, same result with both. No cost other than some time. Hope this video helps.
