This tractor isn’t just an old machine — it’s part of my family’s history. Bought new during the Second World War, it belonged to my grandad and has lived on the farm all my life. I’ve never seen it run properly… In this video, I pull my grandad’s 1943–44 Fordson Standard N out of the nettles, lift it into the workshop, and strip it down to see if it can live again. Along the way, I tell the story of a man who lived through both World Wars — working in coal mines and farming — keeping Britain running while others went off to fight. There’s plenty of proper mechanical work here too: diagnosing the engine, tearing it down, and planning a sympathetic restoration — not shiny, not overdone — just honest and working, exactly as it should be.
