We made a CLASSIC ENGLISH SUMMER TRIFLE for the first time! (kitchen news included)// Watch as we attempt to make a real English trifle for the first time in this video! Join us on this culinary adventure as we navigate through the layers of sponge cake, custard (in our case vanilla pudding from Germany!), fruit, jelly, and whipped cream to create a delicious dessert. Don't miss out on the fun and excitement as we try our hand at this classic British treat for the very first time! Stay tuned for the ultimate taste test to see if our homemade trifle lives up to the hype. And don't miss our kitchen update in this video! Thank you so much for watching, Kirsten & Joerg P.S. We didn't use a lot of sherry because I (Kirsten) can really struggle with the taste of alcohol that's why we kept it to a minimum and as mentioned in the video we beat the cream but if any longer it would have been completely spoilt. Sadly it was the muggy and hot weather that made the cream runny and we couldn't do anything about it. _____ ENGLISH SUMMER TRIFLE RECIPE: Ingredients 6 store-bought or homemade sponge fingers, or about 4-6 slices of pound cake 2 to 3 tablespoons sherry 2 cups fresh raspberries or strawberries 2 cups store-bought or homemade liquid jelly 2 cups store-bought or homemade custard (we used vanilla pudding from Germany) 2 cups softly whipped cream Whole fresh raspberries or strawberries, for garnish Grated chocolate, for garnish Method Cut 6 store-bought or homemade sponge fingers in half horizontally. Alternatively, cut thick slices from the sponge cake, or pound cake. Line the bottom of a large trifle bowl or glasses with the cake in a nice even layer. Brush the sherry on the cake and let it soak in for 5 minutes. Cover the cake with 2 cups of fresh raspberries or strawberries. Slowly and gently pour 1/3 of jelly over the layers and put it into the fridge—doing this will set the sponge and fruit into the bottom of the bowl. Once this layer is set, pour over the remaining jelly and let it set. Once set, spoon 2 cups store-bought or homemade custard on top, smoothing evenly with a silicone spatula. Finish with 2 cups softly whipped cream either spooned over. Decorate with some berries and grated chocolate. If necessary put back in the fridge for some time and then ENJOY!
