On Wednesday, June 18, HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE, Guest of Honour at Pitti Immagine Uomo 108, presented its Spring/Summer 2026 collection titled “Amid Impasto of Horizons” at the Villa Medicea della Petraia in Florence—a historic site tied to the Medici family. The collection draws inspiration from the natural and cultural landscapes of Italy, combining colors from nature and the textures of Italian cities with familiar elements and new ideas. It reflects everyday life and explores a new approach to daily wear. The collection features several key concepts: PAINTER’S GEAR, functional workwear with versatile pockets; PAINT BRUSH CLOSE-UP, gradients that reflect the layering of paint on brush bristles; TAILORED PLEATS, refined jackets and silhouettes that enhance traditional tailoring; CARRIER CARRIED, garments that fold into garment bags; LINEN LIKE, tailoring with a crisp linen-like texture and fresh sheen; PALETTE, prints inspired by the color palettes used by the design team; and CIOCOLATO, shoes that merge square and rounded shapes with a playful nod to chocolate bars. The set design, curated by Andrea Faraguna and Michael Kleine, was inspired by the serene beauty of the villa and its 16th-century gardens, using sprinklers to create a living, respectful representation of how the gardens once thrived. This special event also marked the launch of OPEN STUDIO, a global initiative where HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE will bring its creative process to new cities and communities around the world. Like artists opening their studios to visitors, OPEN STUDIO invites audiences to experience the brand’s design and making up close. The first edition at Pitti Uomo includes both the runway presentation and an exhibition designed by the Misawa Design Institute, in collaboration with the brand’s design team, offering insight into the development and pleating techniques behind the collection.
