In loving memory of Joseph

On Tuesday, the Child of Hope community gathered to honour and celebrate Joseph’s life. In a moving tribute, students and teachers lined the road into the school grounds, clapping as his coffin was carried in. A memorial service followed, with reflections from his family, classmates and members of staff, each sharing memories of the young man Joseph was. A particularly special moment was a song Phiona, one of our S2 students, wrote for Joseph. The hostel students performed it together in an emotional tribute – their performance can be seen in the video. Joseph was laid to rest in his home village on Wednesday, in a ceremony attended by a large gathering of family, friends and community members. Representatives of the Child of Hope staff, students, the welfare team, and the Directors laid wreaths, and speeches were given on behalf of the wider school community. Though these days have been difficult, they have also been a reminder of how deeply Joseph was loved. His life touched many, and he will not be forgotten.
