I like the art, I like the stat blocks, I like how they fuel my imagination both as a player and as a dungeon master. But beyond simply being art books or indexes of stat blocks, monster manuals have the opportunity to be one of the most powerful tools in the DMs toolbox when it comes to preparing adventures. While I generally really love the art and stat blocks found in the 2024 monster manual, I can't get over how the choice to arrange the book alphabetically severely weakens its use as a tool for dungeon masters.
