#astrophotography #science #astronomy The December 21st, 2020 conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is going to be epic! Such a close alignment for Jupiter and Saturn hasn't happened in nearly 800 years. These two planets will be separated by a mere 1/10th of a degree in the night sky, which is incredibly small considering the Moon has an apparent diameter of half of a degree. In this tutorial you learn a few quick and easy tips to help improve your 2020 Jupiter/Saturn conjunction astrophotography! Don't forget to like and subscribe if you appreciate this content. My 5 tips: 1. Determine if you want a wide angle, or magnified shot. 2. Use Stellarium planetarium software to help plan. (found here http://www.stellarium.org) 3. Find a location with a view of the horizon. 4. Arrive early and face the West. 5. Have fun! Recommended Equipment: For wide shots use a DSLR or mirrorless camera with wide angle lens (24-70mm), sturdy tripod, and an intervalometer. For magnified shots use a telephoto lens (300-600mm), or a telescope! The photos used in the thumbnail were shot by the master planetary astrophotographer Matt Smith!
