Is Pandora the best music app for you? Pandora music app owned the game 10 years ago but has since been outcompeted by Spotify, Tidal, and Apple Music. Does that mean that they are no longer a good app? In this video, I dive in and determine what features, functions, and price packages make this app better or worse than its major competitors. EXTENDED REVIEW: 1. FEATURES/INTERFACE Pandora web player includes lyrics for many songs Current playing song has a little “equalizer” animation to show you which song is playing Swipe up to see the current playing song, then swipe up again to see other songs in that album, more info about the artist, album, Queue, and AutoPlay settings Search for artists, songs, stations, podcasts, playlists, and albums Select what you want to see in “My Collection” by selecting the drop down menu and then choosing an option such as “playlists” or “songs” Player color changes to match albums playing Some Pandora ads come on in radio Download radio stations Give songs thumbs-up or thumbs-down Select the (i) in the top right corner to see more information about the song or station Search does not allow voice search :( Only one account can listen at a time Not functioning properly with headphone controls SETTINGS: Privacy - set your account to public or private (unlike Spotify which requires individual “private sessions” Advanced, Car Launch - automatically launches Pandora when car bluetooth is connected Choose audio quality settings FAVORITE SETTINGS: Sleep timer option!! Alarm clock - allows you to set a station which will be an alarm clock for the time you choose - this is an amazing function that allows you to wake up to different music every day 2. PRICING Offers Pandora free, Pandora Plus ($5/mo), or Pandora Premium ($10/mo) Pay annually to save ~$1/mo for the premium plan 3. MUSIC SELECTION Thumbprint Radio = radio based on songs you gave a “thumbs-up” in other radio stations Unfortunately, this needs to be in a radio - you cannot give a thumbs-up to individually selected songs Play top songs from artists by tapping on their profile picture Easily add variety, or “seeds” to stations to optimize your music See liked songs in “My Thumbs Up” playlist Not all songs are available on demand - some are only radio 4.
