"Boong" is a Manipuri film written and directed by Lakshmipriya Devi and produced by Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani. It's a coming-of-age story centered around a mischievous young boy named Boong, who lives with his mother in a village in Manipur. "Boong" the character is played by Gugun Kipgen along side Bala Hijam who played the role of his mother. Boong has garnered many accolades and recognition. The movie won the title "Excellence in Feature Filmmaking" at the International South Asian Film Festival 2024, Canada. Won the "Best Youth Film" Title at the 17th Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2024, Australia Won the "Best Director Award" at the 9th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2024. Won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2nd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2025. It also had its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2024, in the Discovery section, and was nominated for Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film at the 55th International Film Festival of India.
