"Warning: Working with vacuum tube testers involves hazardous high voltages that can cause serious injury or death. This video is for educational and entertainment purposes only. Do not attempt to operate or repair high-voltage equipment unless you are properly trained. Safety first – always use insulated tools and follow professional protocols." This video shows a functional test of an ECC83 (12AX7) dual triode vacuum tube using a classic tube tester. Each triode section is tested separately, so the procedure consists of two complete measurements. The test sequence is as follows: Filament continuity and shorts test First, the tube is checked for filament interruption and internal shorts. Heater operation verification Proper heater function is confirmed before electrical measurements. Anode current (Ia) measurement The anode current is measured for each triode. If the meter needle deflects to the end of the scale, this usually indicates deformed internal electrodes or a disconnected control grid. Vacuum test Vacuum quality is evaluated next. If the meter reading in the vacuum test position is approximately 10% higher than the anode current, the tube has poor or defective vacuum. Transconductance (slope) measurement Transconductance is determined by comparing the meter deflection in the Ia position with the deflection in the S position. The correct scale is selected according to the range indicated by the arrow in the lower right corner of the tester card. The difference between these two readings represents the average transconductance (mA/V). Finally, the measured value is compared with the nominal transconductance specified on the tester card (lower left corner). This demonstration shows one possible test procedure using a specific tester. Measurement results and interpretation may vary depending on the equipment, settings, tube condition, and operator experience. This video is intended as a practical demonstration, not as a definitive or absolute evaluation method. #vacuumtubes #ecc83 #electronics #audiophile #vintageaudio
