Love Is My Light (starts at 00:31) Easy Lovers, Heavy Moaners (starts at 06:52) Back Side (starts at 11:49) Trapped In A Game (starts at 17:51) Coloured Dreams (starts at 25:06) RUPHUS emerged as a progressive rock band from Oslo, formed in 1970. The members were Gudny Aspaas (vocal), Rune Sundby (vocal), Asle Nilsen (bass), Hans Petter Danielsen (guitar), Kjell Larsen (guitar), Håkon Graf (keyboards) and Thor Bendiksen (drums). Ruphus was a flag ship in Norwegian rock in the 70s, and experienced great success abroad - especially in West Germany. In the course of their career they developed from being a hard progressive rock band to a leading jazz rock band. Bjorn Jenssen from BodØ played drums the latter years of their career before they were disbanded in 1981. Ruphus managed to give out 6 studio albums during the 1970s: “NEWBORN DAY” (1973), “RANSHART” (1974), “LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE” (1976 this record was their ticket into the European market), “INNER VOICE" (1977), “FLYING COLOURS” (1978) and “MAN MADE" (1979). The original members Gudny Aspaas, Rune Sundby, Asle Nilsen and Kjell Larsen performed at Rock På Torget, with a helping hand from Kjell Rønningen on keyboards and Bjørn Jensen on drums. We would also like to give a big thanks to Tomas Evjen and Cathrine Sørensen at News On Request, Morten Buvik in Lydteamet and Håvard Christensen in Store Studio which gave us pictures, sound and mixing for this documentaion of the festival. All rights reserved Svenne Torrissen ROCK PÅ TORGET in Bodø, Norway, was a tremendous - and weather wise! - experience. A Saturday evening in the late summer of 2010 SVENNE TORRISSEN and HÅVAR EIDE had managed to gather the best of Norwegian Prog Rock bands from the 1970's for a mini festival on the square of Bodø. On the way they had good help from GEIR-JAKOB HELLEM, HARALD OLAUSSEN, many volunteers and the main sponsor NORDLANDSBANKEN and many local sponsors. The economical basis was therefore secured and uncertainty was reduced to two factors: How many tickets would be sold, and how would the weather gods behave? About 1,100 paying attendees came from the whole country, something the weather gods didn't take into consideration. Rain without precedence came during the morning and worsened in the evening. The musicians weren’t depressed by the weather, it was something which fired them with extra energy; for a love of performing and the effort they put into their performances would be hard to find elsewhere! NEWS ON REQUEST had four cameras to record and document this historic event - the result you can see here. Sit back and enjoy!
