UMYO COTABATO CITY BIG EVENT!!!MAY ALLAH BLESS US ALL. The Union of Muslim Youth Organizations (UMYO) comprising 21 organizations based in Cotabato City and nearby areas spearheaded the conduct of Grand Islamic Symposium entitled “We Love Jesus, We Are Muslims” on December 31, 2014 at Al Nor Convention Hall, Cotabato City. The activity was attended by 1,169 participants that also included non-Muslim. In the morning sessions, “Benefits of Seeking Knowledge” were discussed by Sheikh Fachruddin Ampatuan of Al Ma’arif Institute, Baguio City followed by Sheikh Ismael Tuanadatu of the Ginakit Philippine Foundation, Inc. who discussed ‘Unity through the Youth’. In the afternoon, a very informative comparative discussion on the main topic was delivered by Bangsamoro’s Grand Mufti Abu Hurairah Udasan. In his introductory statement he said, “If you love somebody, you should know who that person is.” He clearly explained using authentic evidences from the Noble Qur-aan and the Bible, the main issue on who really Jesus is in the lives of people, whether Muslims or Non-Muslims. At the conclusion of Mufti’s Udasan, a young man approached the organizers informing them that he would take the Shahadah and another young woman also went to the front and joined the former in reverting to Islaam. In few minutes later, another young lady declared that she would like becoming a Muslim and took also her Shahadah. They were all assisted in their reversions by no other than the Mufti himself. The event was indeed another success and a milestone for the UMYO which aims to achieve their noble mission, “Unity: Our Mission.”
