In this episode of our Hytale Journey, we finally take a step back and showcase everything we have been working on behind the scenes on our new island settlement. After many hours of building, planning, and experimenting, it’s time to present the first real vision of our island city. Over time, we laid out a clear structure for the island, defining districts, building zones, and pathways. Using Hytale’s incredibly powerful editor tools, we were able to shape the terrain, place structures freely, and experiment with layouts in a way that feels fast, creative, and surprisingly flexible compared to traditional sandbox building. We designed a variety of buildings, ranging from small medieval townhouses to larger, more dominant structures that give the settlement depth and hierarchy. These buildings aren’t placed randomly — each one serves a purpose within the city and contributes to the overall medieval atmosphere we’re aiming for. To protect the settlement and give it a strong identity, we also constructed a city wall that wraps around and across parts of the island. This not only adds defensive character but also visually frames the city, making it feel like a proper fortified settlement rather than just scattered buildings. Inside the video, we take a closer look at how the houses are structured and furnished, explain our design philosophy, and touch on the historical inspirations behind the architecture. We also show our dedicated design platform, where new buildings are created and tested before being transferred into the city using the editor tools. Beyond building, we dive a bit into terraforming as well, demonstrating how smooth and intuitive it feels to shape landscapes and adapt the island to our vision. The combination of creative freedom and efficiency makes the Hytale editor an absolute game-changer for large-scale projects like this.
