FREE JOB SEARCHING WORKSHOP - https://www.poundingpavement101.com When you fail a drug test for a job, it might feel as if the foundations of your world are collapsing. You may be scared about what this means for your future and whether you will ever be able to work again. Begin by taking a long breath and attempting to relax. This is not the end of the world, and there are things you may do to improve your situation. First, you'll need to figure out why you failed the drug test. You may be able to submit paperwork proving that you have a current prescription if your drug test was invalidated because of prescription drugs. If your failed test was caused by medical marijuana usage or other lawful, recreational substances, you may be required to provide proof. It's more difficult to respond if the reason for your failed drug test is due to unlawful drug usage. However, there are still things you can do to try to improve your position. Take a step back and keep in mind that failing a drug test does not necessarily exclude you from employment. While some employers may be reticent to hire someone who has previously failed a drug test, others will see it as an opportunity to assist and guide you towards recovery. There are a variety of things you may do to enhance your chances of getting a job: You could explore whether there is anything else you can do to improve your skills and make yourself a more appealing applicant for employment. You might want to think about networking with individuals in other industries and directly contacting recruiters and hiring managers to get your name out there. If you tested positive for illicit drugs in the past, be upfront with potential employers about it. You will demonstrate that you are taking responsibility for your actions and are prepared to be open about your past if you are honest with future employers. Look for employment that already has a strong network in place to assist employees dealing with substance abuse. Many businesses now offer resources such as counseling, treatment programs, and even employee assistance programs to help their staff get back on the right path. Instead of stressing about your past failure to pass a drug test, concentrate on your skills and experiences. Highlight your abilities and how they make you a viable candidate for the position.
