From the organizers: The Vermont Cannabis Equity Coalition holds a press conference at the Richard Kemp Center in Burlington, Vermont. The event will begin with remarks from the Coalition, followed by a question-and-answer session with the media. Legislature, Governor’s Office, Cannabis Control Board, and Media Fail to Listen to, and Meet the Needs of, the Regulated Cannabis Industry, the Medical Cannabis Program, and Communities Impacted by the Criminalization of Cannabis. The leading cannabis legislation during the 2025 legislative session, Bill H.321, An Act Relating to Miscellaneous Cannabis Amendments, fails to meet the expressed needs of the regulated industry and its customers, the medical cannabis program and its registered patients, and caregivers, as well as to address the need for justice for those harmed by the criminalization of cannabis. This legislative session, the Vermont Cannabis Equity Coalition, which includes Rural Vermont, Vermont Racial Justice Alliance, Green Mountain Patients Alliance, the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT), Vermont Growers Association (VGA), developed a clear set of priorities and recommended statutory language, collaborated and organized with other local industry groups, governmental groups and elected representatives, and received significant support from Vermonters in demanding to include foundational racial and economic justice, medical community, and agricultural concerns in Bill H.321. A sign-on letter circulated by the Coalition has received nearly 150 signatures (including almost 50 cultivators, 9 retailers, and 10 manufacturers currently licensed), and outreach from the coalition partners has generated hundreds of emails and phone calls over this year’s legislative session. 6/10/2025 https://linktr.ee/townmeetingtv Town Meeting TV is a free speech forum and the ideas expressed do not necessarily reflect the views of the Town Meeting TV Trustees and staff.
