Download The Most Common Spanish Verb Conjugations (PDF) here: https://spanishinput.gumroad.com/l/verbs Spanish verb conjugations can be easier to learn if you know where to start. And the only logical way to start is with the MOST COMMON ones. Forget the usual advice of starting with certain tenses and postponing the study of other tenses. In real life, each verb follows a different pattern of common conjugations. Memorizing entire conjugation tables is a waste of time. As a learner, you need to focus your limited time and energy only on the most common forms for each verb. This document contains color-coded conjugation tables that help you do this. Verb Selection If a verb has at least one conjugation among the top 1,000 most common words in Spanish, it's included here. This gave me a total of 119 verbs. This work is based on the Spanish Input list, which includes the 5,000 most common words in spoken Spanish . I created this list using data from Spanish language movies and TV series. Therefore, the data you see in this document is based on conversational Spanish . This is for learners who want to talk to real people in daily life, not for those trying to read Don Quijote. How To Study I recommend you go through this document several times. On your first pass, learn all Level 1 forms for each and every verb. In the case of Estar , this means learning estar , estoy , está , están and estaba . When you know all Level 1 forms in this document so well that you can use them in conversation, you can do a second pass to learn all Level 2 forms, and so on. When you have mastered all forms in Levels 1-5, you can choose to learn the rest. Don't get too hung up on whether a form is Infinitivo , Imperfecto , etc. Don't be afraid of the Subjuntivo . Just learn the most common forms for each verb! This document optimizes your study time by eliminating any conjugation not found among the top 5,000 words in spoken Spanish. For many verbs, this means entire columns have been omitted. For example, in the table for Abrir the Imperfecto, Futuro, Condicional and the Subjuntivo Imperfecto columns are omitted because they didn't make the cut. Vos and vosotros forms are only used in certain regions, so only a few of them made the cut. You don't need to use these vos and vosotros forms, but you do need to understand them. Subjuntivo Presente forms for usted, nosotros, and ustedes can be used as Imperativos. For example, in the table for Abrir the form abran can be used as an Imperativo . Therefore, to avoid unnecesary duplicates, Imperativo forms are listed only when they're different from Subjuntivo Presente forms. Subjuntivo Imperfecto has two forms. Subjuntivo Imperfecto 1 is more common, and for most verbs it's the only one that made the cut. Subjuntivo Imperfecto 2 is much less common. Subjuntivo Futuro was omitted because it's not used in spoken Spanish, only in archaic legalese.
