Exterior of hospital STORYLINE: Throughout Stockholm, impromptu memorials of roses sprang up by billboards bearing the late Foreign Minister Anna Lindh's picture for the euro campaign. In front of the department store where she was killed, hundreds of candles were lit overnight and the mound of lilies and roses stood more than a meter (three feet) high. Lindhs's death has put renewed focus on the Swedish euro referendum, transforming what looked like an almost certain Swedish rejection of eurozone membership into a wide-open contest between the two camps. Police said there was no evidence the attack was related to the euro vote. Police questioned several people Friday in connection with the killing of Sweden's popular foreign minister, but none had been named a suspect. The Foreign Ministry said Anna Lindh had received six letters and e-mails, some with "harsh language," after she wrote an opinion piece with the chief executive of the Swedish wireless equipment maker LM Ericsson on why the country should adopt the euro. In the wake of Lindh's death, all correspondence sent to her in the last few weeks was being examined, said Margareta Linderoth, a spokeswoman for Sweden's security agency, or SAPO. The authorities widened their search for a man who witnesses said stabbed Lindh in the stomach, chest and arm in an upscale Stockholm department store. Police spokesman Leif Jennekvist said that surveillance tape from another floor of the seven-story department store where Lindh was stabbed may contain footage of the main suspect.
