According to tradition, Krishna, the mischievous son of Nandgaon, would visit Barsana — Radha’s village — to tease her and her friends. In spirited response, the women of Barsana would chase him away with lathis (wooden sticks). Today, that playful exchange transforms into a grand spectacle where men from Nandgaon symbolically “invade” Barsana, and the women welcome them with vibrant colors and mock battles of sticks. The men shield themselves with padded protection, laughter echoing through the narrow lanes as centuries-old devotion dances in the air. The celebration unfolds against the backdrop of the majestic Radha Rani Temple, where devotional songs fill the sky and clouds of गुलाल float like blessings.
