Today I tell you the story of one of the most fascinating structures ever built, during canal mania. The Long-don on Tern Aquaduct. In 1795, there was a plan to connect, the then-isolated, Telford canals to Shrewsbury. After the first fully stone aqueduct was washed away in floods in 1796, Telford rebuilt it but not out of stone this time. But the world's first navigable Iron Aquaduct. Telford then went on to build the most famous aqueduct in the world, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in 1805, this was his prototype.
