Advanced Motorcycle Riding - Shoulder Check / Life Saver

This is a short video following a Police Motorcycle Trainer and observing the method and timing of shoulder checks. It can be a cause of confusion for riders to know just when and how to do them. It is about understanding when and why, within the system of bike control, (documented in the book Motorcycle Roadcraft) IPSGA, INFORMATION, POSITION for the hazard; consider a life saver, SPEED (decelerate or brake), correct GEAR for the hazard and then consider the life saver, before the ACCELERATION phase. So what is a hazard? Basically anything that is potentially dangerous. They fall into three categories. 1. Physical features such as junctions, roundabouts, bends or hill crests. 2. Risks arising from the position or movement of other road users. 3. Problems arising from variations in the road surface, weather conditions and visibility. Sorry about the dead fly on the screen!
