We visit Książ Castle in Wałbrzych – the third largest in Poland, after Wawel and Malbork. Built in 1293 by Bolko I the Strict of the Piast dynasty, it remained the residence of the Hochberg von Pless family from the 16th century until 1944. During World War II, it was adapted as part of the secret “Riese” project, and after the war, it was carefully restored. Viewers will see the representative piano nobile, the “cabinet of curiosities,” neo-Rococo salons, and the newly reconstructed Apartments of Princess Daisy. The program also explores the terraced gardens with 38 fountains restored in 2025, as well as the 2-kilometer underground tunnel route. A location for many film productions, including the Oscar-winning The Zone of Interest, the castle today forms, together with its palm house, stables, and park, a unique tourist complex of Wałbrzych.
