FENDER ROSCOE BECK V BASS (USA, 1999) - Sound demo

See below for the combination of pickups, tone controls, and styles. The bass was recorded via PreSonus Studio 68c card directly into the OBS software without any effects, equalization, compression, normalisation or postprocessing. This is the most clean sound I was able to get directly from the instrument. 0:00-0:27 fingerstyle, both pickups as single coils, tone 100% 0:27-0:50 fingerstyle, both pickups as single coils, the tone pot pulled to emphasize the bridge pickup, tone 100% 0:51-1:14 fingerstyle, both pickups as single coils, tone 50% 1:15-1:40 fingerstyle, both pickups as single coils, tone 100% 1:40-2:13 fingerstyle, bridge pickup single coil, neck pickup coils in parallel, tone 100% 2:13-2:40 fingerstyle, bridge pickup single coil, neck pickup coils in series, tone 100% 2:40-3:03 fingerstyle, bridge pickup coils in parallel, neck pickup single coil, tone 100% 3:03-3:23 fingerstyle, bridge pickup coils in series, neck pickup single coil, tone 100% 3:23-3:40 fingerstyle, bridge pickup coils in series, neck pickup single coil, tone 50% 3:40-4:02 fingerstyle, both pickups as single coils, pulling the tone pot to emphasize the bridge pickup, playing with variable tone between 50%-100% 4:02-4:20 fingerstyle, neck pickup single coil soloed, tone 100% 4:20-4:36 fingerstyle, neck pickup coils in parallel soloed, tone 100% 4:36-4:53 fingerstyle, neck pickup coils in series soloed, tone 100% 4:53-5:16 fingerstyle, bridge pickup single coil soloed, tone 100% 5:16-5:31 fingerstyle, bridge pickup coils in parallel soloed, tone 100% 5:31-5:59 fingerstyle, bridge pickup coils in series soloed, tone 100% and later 50% 6:00-6:26 slap, both pickups as single coils, tone 100% 6:27-6:41 slap, neck pickup coils in parallel, bridge pickups coils in series, tone 100% 6:42-7:00 slap, neck pickup coils in series, bridge pickups coils in parallel, tone 80% 7:00-7:25 picked bass, both pickups as single coils, tone 100% 7:26-7:55 picked bass, neck pickup coils in series, bridge pickups coils in parallel, tone 80% 7:56:-8:13 chords, both pickups, both pickups as single coils, tone 100% from 8:14 chromatic notes on all strings, open string sustain Image gallery can be found under    • Fender Roscoe Beck V Bass (USA, 1999)...   Technical details and comments: According to the serial number SN8956023 the bass was manufactured in 06/1999. The body is alder with Candy Apple Red glossy finish. The maple neck has pau ferro fretboard. There is no neck dive. The pickups and their combinations are amazing to my ear. The controls are as follows: Volume pot, Tone pot. You can switch each of the pickups as single coil, or both coils either in parallel or on series (stronger output). There is no balance between the pickups, just a three-way swith for soloing the neck PU, bridge PU, or combine both PUs. However, if you pull the tone pot, the bridge PU becomes emphasized. The strings are EBS TN-CM5 Titanium Nickel 45-128. The B-string sounds decent and well defined for a 864 mm scale instrument. The bass has a medium long sustain. A former owner tested to wire in the Sadowsky active preamp, so the jack was moved temporarily to the side and there is a battery slot in the back. Now is the bass with the original electronics. The bass is built like a swiss army knife. Although being passive, it has so many well-sounding combinations.
