The battery removal process was performed by Electrobike in Caen, France (https://electrobike-caen.fr/) on my 2024 Mondraker Dusty XR e-gravel bike. Electrobike is the place I bought the bike from 3 weeks prior. I highly recommend this place for any e-bike need in Normandie region of France. I initially filmed the removal process to document it and to be able to put the bike back together once I get home. The reason for doing this is that I had to travel by air with the bike, therefor the battery had to be removed to be shipped separately. The bike came from Mondraker with 2 Mahle boxes, one for the internal battery, one for the extender, both labelled UN3480 (classification for lithium-ion batteries that are shipped alone). These batteries are too large and illegal on commercial flights. The Air France Web site says: "You may travel with an electric bicycle as long as the battery has been removed. It will be treated like a regular bike." Using an EVOC bike bag, I took the bike with me as checked luggage on my flight and shipped the battery in its original box via FedEx.
