Want to know the secret life of a wildlife artist? Dale Cochran walks through the mountains to create paintings inspired by nature. There was a time when he worked in the city, climbed the corporate ladder and fought downtown traffic. Then he stopped, packed up and moved to the mountains. He never regretted the decision. Dale is a widely-known nature artist. He creates beautiful watercolor paintings of the birds of the south. He told me that his work is realistic renderings of wildlife in watercolor. They are 90% accurate. The rest is inspiration and interpretation. Dale is like mother nature's partner. He paints the birds and plants he finds in the mountains near Hiawassee, Georgia. He picks up a branch here and maybe some leaves to create the setting for his watercolors. Later he puts them back. Call it respect for nature. In a way he’s like a modern john James Audubon. His detailed paintings depicted the birds in their natural habitats. I asked if he had a secret. He said it’s simple, go where the birds are and pay attention.
