Fuming Bato confronts Mary Ann Maslog: You tried to convince Alice Guo to implicate me, Duterte

Mary Ann Maslog, who claimed to be recruited by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to contact Alice Guo during her escape, was confronted by a fuming Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa with information of her alleged attempt to implicate him and former president Rodrigo Duterte as accomplices of the dismissed mayor on Tuesday. Maslog, who escaped possible conviction for graft in the 1998 textbook scam after faking her own death in 2019, appeared as a resource person at the Senate panel's investigation with claims that she had been tapped to by the PNP intelligence group to mediate Guo's surrender in Indonesia in September. According to Maslog, her help was enlisted by PNP Intelligence Group chief Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz due to her supposed friendship with Sual mayor Dong Calugay, whom she said once had a romantic relationship with Guo. Her self-proclaimed role in Guo's arrest dumbfounded senators, including dela Rosa, who later confronted Maslog with "information" that she had an ulterior motive for communicating with the embattled former mayor. He further warned, "I have the goods against you!" Maslog denied this. Dela Rosa eventually moved to cite Maslog in contempt for "lying," after Macapaz said it was her who approached him to help as a mediator for Guo, not the other way around. Macapaz, who joined the Senate probe via video call, added that he was also not aware of the past cases of Maslog, whom he referred to as Jesica Francisco, her alias.
