We are now seeing some of the impacts of climate change like floods, wildfires and drought. So how do we fight climate change? One solution is clean technology. Around the world, clean technologies are reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and lessening the impact that we have on our water, land, and air. But what exactly are clean technologies? It’s really just making products, processes, and services greener or better for the planet. Think of new energy technologies - solar, hydro, tidal, wind, and nuclear. Or new types of transportation like electric vehicles. Or changing the way we design, construct and run homes so that they use less energy. Clean technologies are also helping us develop our natural resources in a more sustainable way – by reducing water use and turning waste products into things we can use. Not surprisingly, the demand for clean technologies is on the rise. The global market is more than $1 trillion a year and will continue to grow over the next decade. That is good news for clean tech in Canada, it’s good news for jobs, and it’s good news for the environment. Clean tech is changing our world for the better.
