Casval Rem Deikun is a profoundly important character in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe. Known also as Édouard Mass and, most famously, as Char Aznable – "The Red Comet" – his complex history is key to understanding the conflicts of the era. Born in Side 3 within the Autonomous Republic of Munzo, his life took him through various locations: from the Republic itself, to time with the Earth Federation in Spain during his exile, to Loum (Colony Texas, Side 5), the Autonomous Republic of Zeon, and finally the Principality of Zeon. His career path was equally varied, starting as a Construction Worker at the Jarumbo Construction Office using mobile workers, studying as a Cadet at the Zeon Space Defense Military Academy, serving as a Military Officer in the Zeon forces, and eventually commanding the Falmer Unit as a skilled Mobile Suit Pilot.
