Are 35mm and 120 Film the Same Stuff, just Different Sizes?

This is an interesting question about whether different formats of film are the same materials -- as in they come out of the same machine and are just cut differently. The answer is a bit mixed. The plastic base, at least, is different for the different film stocks. As for whether the film's emulsion is different, I don't know.
