In this walking tour video, we explore one of the most striking areas of Izmir, Turkey's beautiful city. The subject of our video is to reveal how unplanned urbanization affects Izmir and how it encroaches on the city's historical fabric. We chose this route because we believe these meaningful images can raise awareness among viewers. Our starting point is the Konak district, located in the heart of Izmir, once famous for its historic stone houses. From here, we can see magnificent views of both Izmir's land and sea. However, just beyond this beauty, old houses, many of which have fallen into disrepair, stand out. Even during the day, the streets have an atmosphere reminiscent of nighttime silence. Our walk begins on United Nations Avenue. Although this is a major avenue extending into the city center, its surroundings are marked by neglected buildings and unorganized urbanization. We then enter 414 Street, where we navigate narrow, unkempt streets densely populated by immigrants. Our route takes us to Namik Kemal Neighborhood. Once one of Izmir's most established settlements, this neighborhood has now transformed into a vibrant yet chaotic area where people from different cultures coexist. The sounds and crowds coming from the marketplace here add a completely different energy to our walk. Then, we reach Cumhuriyet Boulevard via 451 Street. This boulevard is a wide and vibrant artery, the heart of modern Izmir. Here, we feel the urban rhythm created by traffic, the density of people, and the modern buildings. The final leg of our tour brings us to Kemeraltı Bazaar, one of Izmir's most famous shopping and cultural centers. With its colorful shops, historic inns, narrow streets, and busy traffic, it's one of the most important landmarks that reflects Izmir's vibrant spirit. 🎧 The video was shot in 4K 60fps ultra HD quality with binaural audio.
