The MR42 is a 100% cloud-managed 802.11ac wave 2 access point designed for next-generation deployments. The MR42 offers high-performance security features and simple management. Let’s go ahead and open this up. 22sec (Open box go over contents of box) A few of the MR42 features are: It is a 3x3 MU-MIMO 802.11ac wave 2 access point and includes integrated omnidirectional antennas. It has both a 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz radio for a total throughput of up to 1.9 Gbps. The 3rd radio continuously scans the external environment, characterizing RF interference, and contains wireless threats such as rogue access points. It also can provide location tracking, all in real time. The integrated fourth radio for Bluetooth low energy provides seamless deployment for beacon functionality, making it ready for new customer engagement strategies. You can power this AP with 30watts of PoE+ power or an optional injector or power adapter. The Meraki MR42 access point features integrated, easy-to-use security technologies such as AES hardware-based encryption and granular access control at the group or device level, which is great for BYOD environments. This access point pairs very well with Meraki’s MDM solutions, making end to end security possible. The MR42 also includes integrated layer 7 packet inspection, classification, and control. Guest access and splash pages are also easy to create with just a few clicks. Like with all Meraki products, it’s managed through the Meraki Dashboard, allowing you to control your entire network from a single pane of glass. Since the Meraki Dashboard allows for simple configuration and management, the MR42 can be deployed at a remote location in minutes regardless of where your IT staff is located. Each MR42 must be used with a license. If you already have older Meraki AP’s that you want to replace, you can use the same licenses you already own. Every license provides 24/7 phone support, next business day hardware replacement, firmware upgrades, software upgrades, and access to the Meraki dashboard.
