During the Catch Welfare Platform Conference in IJmuiden (November 2025), VeriFish interviewed global actors shaping the future of fisheries sustainability. In this second episode of Voices Behind the Indicators, Hoang Nguyen from the Vietnam Tuna Association explains how Vietnam’s tuna industry is strengthening sustainability across the full supply chain. The Vietnam Tuna Association represents stakeholders from fishing communities to processors, exporters, and importers. Their mission is to support sustainable development of the national tuna sector while meeting international market requirements. Key initiatives include: – Fishery Improvement Programs (FIPs) for yellowfin tuna handline fisheries – MSC-related assessments – Capacity building for fishers – Implementation of traceability systems comparable to Chain of Custody standards Hoang highlights the importance of structured data frameworks to identify gaps, improve data collection, and align sustainability efforts with global market expectations. VeriFish offers a transparent platform where environmental, social, and traceability data can be integrated and communicated clearly. From fishing operation to plate — data is the backbone of responsible fisheries.
