Short trip in the Roan Highlands

On the way home from crewing my brother at Yeti 100, I decided to stop at the Roan Highlands. To be honest, I was going to Linville Falls, but I love the Highlands, and decided to go there first. I was able to drive up to the top of Roan Mountain this time. In the past, the gates have been closed to top, so this was a treat. I stopped at the Cloudland Hotel site, checked out the high knob, and then headed over to see the bluffs. The bluffs were a new sight for me, and one I’d like to see on a clearer day. I also need to return to see the rhododendron in full bloom. For sure worth a June visit.
