#PakistanVlog #Deosai #Skardu Make SURE you check the weather forecast if you ride a motorbike through Deosai National Park ! My 2 new friends Julian and Patrick and I planned to ride from Gilgit to Skardu via the beautiful Skardu Highway. However, we discover that it is closed, and not just for a short time, but until night ! With an adventurous spirit, but not with a lot of planning, we decide to take the alternate route from Gilgit to Skardu, which is via Astore and Deosai National Park ! It's already October and quite late in the season to travel through Deosai. Days are already below freezing, and nights are definitely freezing. Once we reached Astore though, we made another unplanned decision, which was to do the day trip to Rama Lake. We had to race against sunset. This was my first taste of how the Honda 125 is NOT tuned for riding above 3000m altitudes, as Rama Lake is at approximately 3500 meters ! After a huge struggle to get up an unpaved road (if you can even call it that), we took a few quick pictures and started to head back. Because tomorrow was our big long ride ! However, Julian's bike had developed a lose wire connection. The nice people at Rama village helped us to find a mechanic who quickly found and reconnected the loose wire. We double check the weather for Deosai and discover there is "precipitation" in the forecast sometime tomorrow afternoon. We plan to leave early the next morning with the intent and hope to race the storm through Deosai into Skardu. The road in Deosai is horrendous. It's unpaved and off road. Any rain would turn the whole place into mud. Not rideable with our road bikes. My Honda 125 struggled at 3500 and today, at over 4100m, it barely pulled in 1st gear and only after it was at higher RPM. We left Astore before 6:30am, and we reached Skardu around 3pm with only couple short stops. It was 8.5 hours of beauty, but 1/2 of that time was on some of the worst roads I have ever ridden on. It was a HUGE relief to reach Skardu without getting caught in rain and snow. Sometimes, the crazy decisions, make the most memorable experiences ! Just to clarify, that Honda 125 was absolutely fantastic ! It just doesn't do well when used in a manner that it was not designed for. It may be possible to adjust fuel mixture and improve high altitude performance, but we hadn't "planned" well and hence we suffered the consequences 😄 Special Thanks to (not sponsored): Karakoram Bikers for the bikes, support, guidance, and being fantastic humans all around. Snowland Guesthouse in Skardu. So welcoming, absolutely lovely people, thanks for everything. And my new friends, for putting up with a guy (me) who keeps trying to record everything on camera 😄 CHAPTERS 0:00 - Intro 0:18 - Deosai Map 1:00 - The TEAM 1:18 - Gilgit to Skardu ride starts 1:49 - Skardu Road Starting Point 4:41 - Skardu Road Amazing View 6:07 - Skardu Road CLOSED Under Construction 6:57 - Ride to Astore 7:24 - Astore Road Starting Point 9:18 - Motorbike Problem on Astore Road 10:11 - Astore to Rama Lake 10:26 - Road to Rama Lake 10:42 - Motrobike Problem Rama Lake 11:36 - Astore to Deosai National Park begins 12:28 - Deosai National Park Entrance 12:51 - Sheosar Lake Deosai 12:59 - Deosai to Skardu Road THANK YOU FOR WATCHING !
