The Sao Jorge volcano in the Azores island chain is showing signs of unrest, as more than 700 earthquakes have occurred underneath its edifice. This had led to several sites increasing the alert level of the volcano, as previous volcanic eruptions on the island began with a similar series of events. So, is the first eruption on an Azores island since 1958 about to occur? What is the context of these earthquakes? This video will answer these two questions, and discuss what might happen next at this volcano. If you would like to support this channel, consider becoming a patron at / geologyhub .
