Uncovering the Telavåg Tragedy: How Germans Destroyed an Entire Village in WW2

In April 1942, the illegal business was exposed and stopped by the German occupying power. The background for the compromise was that Lauritz Telle had ended up in a dispute over a boat purchase, whereupon he was reported as revenge for illegal possession of a radio set. The constable in Fjell was Per Lie at the time, who sympathized with the Nazis. The case therefore ended up with Johan Bjørgan in the state police, and on 25 April he went to Telavåg in civilian clothes to investigate the situation. The boatman who gave him a ride across the strait mistook him for an Englishman and recommended that he seek out Laurits Telle. #ww2 #worldwar2videos #history #war
