#sistermidnight #radhikaapte #lff2024 DEBUT feature filmmaker Karan Kandhari’s film, ‘Sister Midnight’ featured earlier at Cannes this year in the Directors Fortnight section (see our review from there -    • Sister Midnight review – Macabre, fun...  ) and has now played at London Film Festival (October 9-20). Kandhari thought he might have to abandon the project as he could not find the actor to play Uma - in the film she gets an arranged marriage and comes to live in Mumbai with her new husband. The two don’t quite see eye to eye and a lot of things to start to go wrong… Quirky, original and funny, Sister Midnight is a particular viewing experience and very unusual in the Indian context. Kandhari explains his choices of music and how he came to write the film - as something of an ode to Bombay (as it was when first found it). Apte talks about how the physicality of the role helped her to find Uma and her responding to the script and its craziness.
